“Trump is the president of the United States - everyone should have respect for him,” the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer told The Post from his winter home in Largo, Fla.

And if I was standing there talking to him, I would have mucho respect for the man,” Lopez said, adding with a chuckle, “I wouldn’t talk to him about anything that’s going on” politically. Unlike Springsteen, a New Jersey native who makes every concert these days feel like a tedious political rally, the percussionist said he takes a different approach with his current group, The Wonderful Winos.
“My band, whatever we think, we don’t go there in our music,” said Lopez, 77, who has played with about 30 music groups over the years.
The drummer played with Springsteen for six years - including on the famed record “Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.” - before the pair parted ways because Lopez was “too jazzy for what [Springsteen] wanted to do,” he said. Maybe he was just too classy for Springdick...
Springsteen knows that as long as he hates Trump he'll have millions of TDS fans paying big bucks to hear his screeching.

ReplyDeleteI have thought about this issue and come to this conclusion: I respect the office of the President of the United States, regardless of the office holder. Obama and Biden are despicable in their own unique ways, but if I were to meet them, I would be proper, courteous, with manners my mother would approve of. If, by some totally bizarre chance, a President (God forbid) Newsom asked me to serve the nation in some manner, I would have to consider deeply if that service was something I could, in good conscience render. If I could, I would have to have some very profound reason to turn that request down, simply because the President asked it of me. Unlike the vile and coarse leftists and sooo many Democrats, I do believe in honorable duty and service over venomous and vicious derangement. Even at the request of that otherwise detestable man.
