People do all these bullshit surveys every day and I wanna know why - and where can I score a job doing one, because they must pay pretty good. That being said, Forbes just did one about 'The 25 happiest cities in the US', and for god knows what reason, Fremont, California came out on top.
Meanwhile, no less than four seconds later another news item pops up and VIOLA! - it's also about Fremont, California - go figure, right? Well, this story throws a slightly different light on America's 'Happiest City'. It seems, no matter where you are in this country of ours, you're gonna encounter 'the usual suspects'. Even in Fremont:
A ruthless “robbery crew” in Northern California turned a high-end Fremont jewelry store into a smash-and-grab wasteland, escaping with a staggering $1.7 million in merchandise in just over a minute.
Surveillance footage released recently by the U.S. Department of Justice shows the precision of the heist, which occurred on June 18, 2025 at Kumar Jewelers in Fremont. Described by authorities as a “mob-style takeover,” the video shows a fleet of vehicles screeching to a halt in front of the storefront, and a crew of nearly two dozen masked suspects in dark hoodies swarming in like a tactical unit.

The House of Representatives voted March 4 to effectively kill a resolution that would have forced the public release of all congressional sexual misconduct and harassment reports held by the House Ethics Committee. The chamber voted 357-65 to refer the resolution to the Ethics Committee - a procedural move that nearly guarantees its death. The resolution was introduced by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina), a conservative Republican who is also running for governor of her state.
Mace's resolution would have directed the Ethics Committee to publicly release, within 60 days, all reports related to investigations into sexual harassment or sexual misconduct involving members of Congress or their aides, with victims' personal information redacted.
The effort came in direct response to mounting scrutiny of Rep. Tony Gonzales, who faces allegations that he had an affair with a female staffer, Regina Santos-Aviles, who died by suicide in September 2025 after setting herself on fire. Gonzales had sent sexually explicit text messages to Santos-Aviles. Gonzales denied having an affair but has not addressed the substance of those allegations since the messages became public.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has paid out over $ 18 million (of YOUR money) in settlements for various workplace disputes, including harassment claims, against congressional offices.

President Trump believes Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is “probably alive” but may have been wounded during Operation Epic Fury.
“I think he probably is. I think he’s damaged, but I think he’s probably alive in some form,”
Trump said in an interview with Fox News Radio host Brian Kilmeade.

Well, that don't sound like too bad a deal...

It's a great idea and it's brought thousands of highly-trained new cops to the streets of Florida. The one thing I don't quite understand though is why, every time it's discussed, it's called an 'after tax bonus'. We don't have a State income tax, so what could that mean? Is it politic-speak for cash money under the table? Juss' sayin'...

to say about how he was brought up by his filthy rich parents?

After tax means the employer is essentially paying the federal tax, ssdi, and whatever local taxes so that the employee receives the full $5k. Many employers don't do this with a bonus so that $5k ends up being only $3.5k (or whatever) to the employee.
ReplyDeleteThe robbers in fremont probably came in from oakland. Not very far away.
ReplyDeleteNOBODY but crooked politicians are happy in Commiefornia.
ReplyDeleteOnly a fool is happy in California.
ReplyDeleteI just had to comfort my friend who can't find low income housing in California that 's less than $1200 a month and as high as $2100! For low income! That includes nothing. Even camping trailer spots are $900+ a month. Thank you big government assholes. They want us poor and broke.
ReplyDeleteWill Smiths kid needs to be mocked mercilessly until he crawls back under a rock.
ReplyDeleteIn neighboring Texas, you couldn't pay Mexicans to live there. That's where the land grants that populate so many Westerns came from. Mexico, not Spain, figured you could get the crazy gringos to do anything so, for a modest fee per acre, you could buy and empire of several million acres on the proviso you could induce enough people to settle there.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure Jaden Smith is Will Smith's biological It? Jada is known for not being able to say "no".
ReplyDeleteHow much value have feral federal government politicians stolen from our currency?
ReplyDeleteI grew up in the 1950s when full size candy bars were a nickle -
Only 5¢ for a full size Hershey bar, Oh Henry, 5th Avenue, Butterfinger, etc.
Now a candy bar is $2.00 or more.
That $2.00 would have bought 40 Hershey bars back in the 50s.
Back then my mom sent me to the store to buy her cigarettes - 18¢ for a pack of all popular brands.
What does a pack of smokes cost now? Somewhere around $10 ?
And elected politicians go from broke to multi-millionaires in less time than it takes to serve a hitch in the Marine Corps.
And idiots keep re-electing them.
