Filtered cigarettes have historically been marketed as safer than unfiltered cigarettes. Despite evidence showing that they are not less harmful and have increased health risks, they are still perceived by consumers as less harmful. Today, new variants of filtered cigarettes continue to be promoted to retailers by the industry and industry-linked actors.
My Grandmother, who lived to be 84, smoked two packs of Chestfield Kings (unfiltered) every day until she was 84. My Mother, in the 60's and 70's, smoked Larks with the charcoal filter, then switched to Tareytons. She lived to be 64. I smoke Marlboros. I hope I live to be 84. Juss' sayin'...
