Fifty six U.S. Coast Guard members who were separated under a Biden era COVID 19 vaccine mandate will be reinstated with full back pay, the Department of Homeland Security announced Tuesday.
The decision reverses prior disciplinary actions tied to vaccination requirements imposed during the pandemic.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem called the move a major victory for “religious, personal and medical freedom.” “These service members deserve to serve without compromising their beliefs,” Noem said.
The reinstatement restores pay, benefits and career status for the affected personnel. The Coast Guard had previously discharged dozens who declined the vaccine under federal guidance at the time.
Similar cases across other military branches prompted reviews after policy changes. Supporters praised the action while critics questioned the broader rollback of pandemic era mandates. Legal challenges continue.

back in 1976, I was with the 101st airborne. we where to get the "new" swine flu shot. but we didn't. and why is that ?
ReplyDeletewell, it was reported that 5 people died after taking the damn shot is why. so , they pulled it. I don't know, maybe they cared more about us back then or feared the backlash if any of us died off after talking the shit.
funny how that shit works now isn't it ? then too I have ran into guys who HAD to take the anti antrax shot and they all ended up with problem due to it.
Now reinstate the military members.
ReplyDeleteEveryone forced out - all branches - should have back pay, rank, and promotions to this date, full reinstatement, AND THEN be eligible for a full-20-years retirement immediately, servicemember option. IF they want to stay in, fine. Some will, and God bless 'em. But those forced out will have moved on with their lives, mostly. And understandably may not want to return. The right thing to do is make them whole (back pay), and then let them retire with a full retirement package. 20 year pension (and I don't give a rip if we're talking about some 21 year old lance cpl who had 2 years in, total). Full package: pension, VA/Champus, everything. Think of it as a penalty to compensate for stupid management. Maybe that will cause some very careful consideration the next time this sort of idiocy comes up.
