I took my 1971 Senior Prom picture (yes - that's me on far right) and fed
it in to an AI website after colorizing it. After about 5 minutes it fed this back to me in MPG mode, which I've converted to GFI so you can view it easier. Granted, this is a relatively low-level example of what it's capable of - I mean wuddya want for nothing - but it's still scary:
Their process actually distorted a number of the faces through the conversion, but just the fact that this can be done easily and inexpensively really should scare the fuck out of all of us.
As the AI processes get better and faster and less expensive, we'll have to concern ourselves about the fact that we won't be able to believe anything we see. Scary shit, right? What was that old saying from Ben Franklin about 'Believe Nothing You Hear, and Only One Half That You See'? Yeah - that second number'll be dropping post haste. Juss' sayin'...
