It's easy enough to see why he wants it, but...

Trump wants to seize control of the vast Arctic territory of Greenland before Russia or China muscle in. Greenland is located where the Arctic Ocean meets the Atlantic – making it one of the most valuable strategic assets on Earth. I've said it before - the man is a Grand Master-level chess player when it comes to politics, whether you like the way he does things or not.

He knows we need at least one base there to establish part of our 'Golden Dome' defense system. He 's trolling all of them with his comments. He'll get the military base he wants - wait and see...

  1. We already have bases there, we shut all the bases down except for Thule Air Base and Pituffik. We also have a treaty with nato to establish new bases there, no need to behave like a petulant toddler.

  2. I wish he'd tell the euroweenies to eff off, bail out of nato and turn the UN headquarters into a prison for traitors.

  3. A hundred year lease with self rule and the option to rejoin Denmark or join the US at the end makes most sense.

  4. What about Thule? It's there, it's huge and it's established already?

  5. We’ve had bases there for over 80 years, I dont know why, all of a sudden we have to buy the joint. Is there some reason preventing us from putting in missiles?

  6. It’s all about defence (sorry Oz spelling) and nothing to do with Greenland’s vast mineral wealth. Forget about the “thousands” demonstrating against the Don in Nuuk (likely all cozied-up bureaucrats) and maybe consider the remaining 50,000 who are not that well off. A hundred grand in EVERYONE’S pocket plus increased employment opportunities and you’ve got off for less than for a few years’ fraud in Minnesota. Deal of the century! For everyone!

  7. The whole Greenland thing is stupid and is costing our side votes the longer this goes on. We already have a base there, I'm sure they wouldn't care if we built more and added to their economies. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

No he is not a grand master chess player. He is aging and it is showing more and more. His mental deterioration is becoming noticeable.

    1. I voted for Trump to AVOID wars not to start them! A war in Greenland will necessarily lead to American boots on the ground and American casualties. You can't conquer a territory the size from Greenland from an airplane. You may be able to bomb bases, defenses, etc. but sooner or later you will need to place infantry everywhere over the island. You will need to install a government, police, etc (nation building all over again). All that will be done with American soldiers and is those American soldiers that will become the victims when the inevitable pushback/resistance happens.

    2. If he is concerned about missiles coming over from Russia or China then the US can place as many bases/missiles/defenses as we want in Greenland already. We have had this agreement since 1951
"Denmark authorizes U.S. military presence through defense agreements, notably a 2023/2024 agreement allowing U.S. troops and equipment access to Danish airbases (Karup, Skrydstrup, Aalborg) and a longstanding 1951 agreement for the Pituffik Space Force Base in Greenland, formalizing broad access to Danish soil for defense purposes"

    3. If Trump is concerned that Russia/China could potentially take Greenland by force then breaking NATO is the worst possible route to avoid that outcome. Under NATO a Greenland invasion would be countered by all NATO members including the US. Today NATO has 32 members (Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Türkiye, United Kingdom, United States)

If we take Greenland by force and Russia/China decide to move on Greenland then it is just us, the USA, fending of China/Russia.
I'm aware that the US has the largest most advanced army in the world but I would still rather fight a 32 armies against 1 than 1 against 1 and trust me that China and Russia is also making that calculation. They would much rather fight 1 against 1 than 1 against 32. By taking Greenland and braking NATO apart Trump is making the possibility of China/Russia making a move on Greenland much more likely.

    4. All these plans/ideas are put together assuming that other have NO agency. All these plans assume that the rest of the world will just take what we do and that is the end of it. In reality every other country has agency, they have plans, ideas, interests and patriotic feelings.
Do you really believe that we will take Greenland and that will be the end of it? Other countries will react in ways we may not understand or imagine today.
One of the most likely outcomes is that NATO continues to exist without the US. European countries have an interest in banding together to deter Russia from a possible invasion. European economies combined are 10 times larger than Russia's economy - European NATO member militaries are double the size of the Russian military.
The other likely outcome is that the US is sidelined in global commerce and cooperation. Nobody wants to do business with a partner that may invade you for no reason and that respect no agreement. The likely outcome of a world that sidelines the US is a world that moves closer to China. That means that the dollar is no longer the single global trade currency, China becomes stronger, the US becomes weaker - YOU become poorer.

I voted for Trump. I deeply regret that vote.
Kamala was a horrible candidate. The whole woke BS was annoying but I can't fathom Kamala would have done more damage to the US than what Trump is doing.
