From an article published yesterday - An 88-year-old Army veteran heartbreakingly revealed he works five days a week at a local grocery store to help pay his bills before kindhearted shoppers rallied to raise over one million dollars for his retirement. Ed Bambas, a cashier at the Meijer store in Brighton, Michigan, lost his pension 13 years ago and is forced to work 40 hours a week - a full-time schedule - despite his age because “he doesn’t have enough income.”
“I retired from General Motors in ’99. In 2012, they went bankrupt and they took my pension away from me,” Bambas told Australian influencer Samuel Weidenhofer. Weidenhofer gave Bambas a $400 tip to help him out before opening a GoFundMe that has raised over $1.18 million as of yesterday morning. “It came out of the clear blue - I really truly mean that,” Bambas said.
Let me tell you a little bit about these. I bought two for my kitchen cabinets.
They're rechargeable, held on by self stick magnets, and were real easy to

Didn't Obama force a "special" bankruptcy? IIRC, they could have allowed standard bankruptcy rules apply (which would have put employees and retirees at the head of the list), but the Obama Administration decided to rewrite the rules on the fly. I wonder why the media didn't make a big deal over Obama screwing over he pensioners?

Delete???? Hm, what about social security???? I understand the events leading up to his choice of employment; but something doesn't seem to add up......
ReplyDeleteIf he worked at GM then I doubt the retirees were shafted as he claims, we'd have heard about this by now. The UAW isn't that stupid. If he worked at AC Delco, there might be something to this. But something is fishy with his story. I'm thinking the cousins running his Go Fund Me are scamming.
