I know of at least one bar that's smart enough to stay open
on Christmas Night, and every bartender will be very
happy to be working. Ka-ching...

Sitting in a bar on x-mas sounds sad and depressing.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Giusepp' & Barb!
ReplyDeleteWe spent several hours at my sister in law's memory care facility because it made more sense than bringing her to our house thanks to her recent serious decline. How's that for a wonderful way to spend Christmas?
ReplyDeleteone time I had a girlfriend that worked Christmas eve and day as a barmaid. she made out like a bandit those two days ! as my Dad said about her, "she put steam in a man's stride" and a redhead to boot. but Damn did she have a temper !
ReplyDeletedidn't last very long as she was "hit on" every time she worked, but it was a lot of fun for a while.
Some years back, my band used to team up with some good friends of ours in a band called the Aqualads, at A-lads bassist Jimmy King's behest, and headline a Christmas night show with them at the Double Door in CLT. I had to be talked into it, assuming that nobody would want to go see a rock and roll band on Christmas night. Oh, how wrong I was--turned out, so many people were so burned out on family, food, and TV sportsball games by sundown that they couldn't WAIT to hit the bar and rock out with us a while. So successful was that first show, in fact, that we did encore performances for the next five or six Christmases, all of which shows were packed to the rafters start to finish. No, I did NOT see that coming, why do you ask?
