This may be blatant, crass commercialization - on them and me...

Don't laugh - this kinda insanity happens every day. Between people who will purposely back their car in to yours and claim that you rear-ended them, to this broad, who is actually willing to possibly get herself killed just to pull of her scam act. And, of course, her boyfriend is right near by to claim he 'saw it all and how you deliberately ran her down'.
It's a growing problem everywhere. In this case it was Australia, and proper credit to the driver who saw it exactly for what it was and just kept going. It can happen to you.
Can you say you'd do the same as he did? Get protection for yourself. Get a dashcam. Here's a good, affordable one:

Willing to get killed? No kiddin'! I was once stopped at a light on Aurora Ave., a.k.a. Highway 99, in Seattle. Busy area, I was right at the crosswalk. A few pedestrians crossed, but an elderly lady trailed slowly along. The light turned green just as she was right in front of me. Oh shit! There was a lane to my right, and any driver coming along would see a green light but would not see the lady coming from in front of my car. Sure as shootin' she walked out into the right lane before I could yell at her to stop walking; I wanted her to stop and I'd do the Boy Scout and get her safely across. Suddenly SCREEEEECH, BUMP a pickup truck hit her right there. But, the driver had juuust seen her emerging from his left at the front of my CRV and hit the brakes. Too late to avoid hitting her, but only a mere tap. Still, a mere tap of a 1 1/2 or so ton truck is a lot of force. She bounced a few feet down the road and the truck driver jumped out so distraught I thought he was going to have a total breakdown. Poor guy. Within seconds, every vehicle on the line hit the flashers; people jumped out and bent over the lady doing first aid. Someone put out flares and triangles. A nurse took the lady's vitals. Others directed traffic. When the EMTs arrived, the nurse gave them a full read out. They took her away, the cops interviewed the driver, who they released as it was obviously a terrible accident, and got traffic moving. Wow, not a good experience, but what a heartening experience in a way.

Now...the rest of the story. I told the cops what I'd seen, being literally the closest eyewitness. No interest at all. I called the hospital to inquire about the lady, but they could not give me any info except that she lived. Ok, fine, privacy and all.

The scammer in this clip is absofrickin'loutly insane to do what she did. Sheesh.
