According to the Mayo Clinic, getting the suggested amount of fruits and vegetables every day is more important than choosing those that are organic or conventionally farmed. When it comes to long-term health, studies find that organic food exposes consumers to less pesticide residue. Aside from that, there is no more nor less actual nutritional value attributed to either group.
However, there are a few benefits worth noting. People who eat the highest amount of organic food seem to have the fewest cases of a cancer called non-Hodgkin lymphoma. ReplyDeleteOrganic only works if the fertilizer is cooked to 180 degrees or so for 10 minutes or more. Why? Because the only acceptable organic fertilizer is poop and if you don't cook the poop you pass on pathogens and parasites. Which is why 'organic' food has been linked to so many food poisoning outbreaks.
John Ringo's book, "The Last Centurion," really gives an excellent and masterful slam on the whole 'organic farming' bullscat.
Beans, I think all readers know, is...full of beans. Organic fertilizer is compost--the rich black dirt that forms as table scraps and garden trimmings break down. Manure is usually applied to roses, not vegetables.
