For example, the National Alliance to End Homelessness calculated over $51 billion in federal funding for selected homelessness and housing programs in 2021.

In addition to federal dollars, nonprofit service providers spend an estimated $8.6 billion each year on emergency shelter and transitional housing. Philanthropic giving to human services, a category including homelessness services, also accounts for billions annually. Federal spending on homeless assistance has doubled since 2007, but it hasn't solved a fucking thing. Hey - who cares - it's not your money, right?.
