Donald Trump is furious about a Time Magazine cover photo that does his hair no favors. The magazine released their latest cover to celebrate the President’s signing of the Gaza ceasefire deal ending the two-year bloody Israel-Hamas war.
In the Time Magazine cover photo, Trump’s face is pictured from a low-angle with beatific lighting blocking out his hair and making him appear as though he has a bald patch (which he actually does - ergo the comb-over, if you haven't noticed).
However, the article is a glowing puff piece about the President’s Middle Eastern diplomatic accomplishment.
Trump wrote to his followers at 1.30 AM on Truth Social: 'Time Magazine wrote a relatively good story about me, but the picture may be the Worst of All Time. ‘They “disappeared” my hair, and then had something floating on top of my head that looked like a floating crown, but an extremely small one.’
‘Really weird! I never liked taking pictures from underneath angles, but this is a super bad picture, and deserves to be called out. What are they doing, and why?’

"Why" is a rhetorical question, yes?
ReplyDeleteWhy that picture? Because that picture from that angle dehumanizes him.
ReplyDeleteIt makes him appear to be looming over people - to be a big, threatening bully.
It feeds their false narrative that he is a tyrant and a thugish oppressor.
The Washington Post used to be notorious for that. If the D party leaders didn't like you, they'd be sure to print snapshots of you from strange angles and/or with your mouth open.
ReplyDeleteI call it a worm's eye view and tsk-tsk: Can't Time get a full-grown photographer? Why did they send out that child?
