I don't know how credible they are, and they sure as fuck lean to the left, but The American Immigration Council compared crime data to demographic data from 1980 to 2022, the most recent data available. The data showed that as the immigrant share of the population grew, the crime rate declined.
In 1980, immigrants made up 6.2 percent of the U.S. population, and the total crime rate was 5,900 crimes per 100,000 people. By 2022, the share of immigrants had more than doubled, to 13.9 percent, while the total crime rate had dropped by 60.4 percent, to 2,335 crimes per 100,000 people.
Specifically, the violent crime rate fell by 34.5 percent and the property crime rate fell by 63.3 percent. All-in-all, it seems hard to believe that that data is credible, but at least NPR bought in to it hook, line and sinking ship...

Bull.
ReplyDeleteTwo big issues with their claim The records of the reported race are proven to be highly inaccurate (on purpose) as are the report of crimes and how do they know how many illegals there are. Remember most large cities do not report to the FBI their crime records any longer.
ReplyDeleteThey are lying by conflating two different things, legal and illegal immigration. Legal migrants have a very low crime rate because they will lose their legal status and be deported if they commit a crime. Illegals don't care and may be fleeing the authorities from their home countries.
ReplyDeleteThat statistic about illegals committing less crime than citizens is bogus, but Dems love to throw it out there. First, every single illegal is a criminal because 100% of them have committed a crime. When it comes to committing other crimes, when they are caught, many liberal jurisdictions forbid determining whether a person is a citizen or not, so there is no way to know if a crime was committed by an illegal immigrant or a citizen. So, at this point, they're just making shit up.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't report crimes, the stats look good.
ReplyDeleteThis.
DeleteLong story short, a friend was nearly carjacked. The cops refused to take a report since she wasn't killed or the vehicle actually taken, and therefore the DA wouldn't prosecute. Their policy must work. Since implementing the policy of refusing to take reports, crime has dropped.
They only count immigrants not illegal ones, claims of the crime rate falling aren't due to them being good citizens but from changing laws on what constitutes a felony. Sanctuary cities generally will let illegals go without charges and not report crimes to the national database.
ReplyDeleteIf you stop reporting crime by immigrants, the crime rates go down.
ReplyDeleteSimple solutions.
The data is credible, illegal migrants don't want to draw attention to themselves. They keep their heads down and work. It's the politicians you shouldn't believe, sure now and again there will be a migrant that commits a crime and this will get amplified by the politicians & media making people believe they're the ones committing all the crime painting them all as monsters.
ReplyDeleteIn my younger years we drove around before we were legally allowed to, we were the best drivers on the road as we did not want to get busted by the cops.
We have some really crap citizens amongst us, I would gladly trade them for most of these illegals that are much better people in the blink of an eye.
Tell that to the gang bangers in Denver or the ones murdering young women around the country or the "No Name Given" truck drivers. Drink all the kool-aid have you? The "data" is not in the least credible.
DeleteMore agenda driven "Lies, damn lies and statistics".
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the quality of migrants and especially illegals has changed over recent times. Europe certainly saw a huge shift in attitude once the welcome mat was advertised, welfare became available and crime was ignored. What bugs me are immigrants that still fly the flag and remain aligned to a country they left because the US offered so much more. Don't bite the hand that feeds you comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteThere's no such thing in law as an "Illegal Immigrant". It's gobbledygook. It's like calling a drug dealer on the street an unlicensed pharmacist. It is also redundant to refer to them with additional criminal activity as Criminal Aliens, since Foreign Nationals a/k/a Illegal Aliens, were criminals the moment they breached our border.
ReplyDeleteTo say Immigrants (someone in the process of becoming a US Citizen and has a Visa to be here lawfully) commit less crime, is like saying the sky is blue.
ALL crime committed by illegal ALIENS is preventable with proper control of the border. we don't have to put up with ANY crime committed by illegal aliens.
ReplyDeleteThe areas around here that are loaded with illegals are loaded with crime, murder, pedestrian auto accidents, drugs etc.
