Who ya gonna call? Mythbusters!

This is a no-brainer for most of us, but it's still worth noting. Here are just a few of the highlights about the safety and efficiency benefits of using a sharp knife over a dull one:

Improved Safety: Sharp knives are less likely to slip and cause injuries compared to dull knives, which require more force and can bounce off food.
Faster Healing: Wounds from sharp knives tend to heal more quickly than those inflicted by dull knives.
Enhanced Efficiency: Sharp knives cut cleanly and efficiently, making food preparation easier and more precise.

Professional chefs carefully monitor the sharpness of their kitchen knives and constantly sharpen them during use. They know that a sharp knife is safer than a dull knife. A properly sharpened tool reduces injuries, enhances cutting precision, and speeds up meal preparation, resulting in more aesthetically pleasing dishes.

My personal favorite. I have one in the kitchen and one in my shop.

Yes, I do object to salads dripping with the chef's blood.

  2. Dull knives are dangerous because people get complacent and careless. "Oh, it's not that sharp". A sharp knife demands your respect and keeps you focused.

  3. It looks like that sharpener requires you to put your hand in the plane of the blade. That is inherently dangerous. I much prefer the long diamond-coated rod, that's been used in one form or another for a couple thousand years.
