A Breitbart report says that Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta is set to launch paid, ad-free versions of Facebook and Instagram for users in the United Kingdom. The UK government welcomes the option of a paid social media subscription, saying that it “moves Meta away from targeting users with ads as part of the standard terms and conditions for using its Facebook and Instagram services, which we’ve been clear is not in line with UK law.”
If it works over there, you'll see it here soon, but honestly - who among us spends that much time on either site that a coupla ads would other us? Not me. I wouldn't knowingly put a dime in this jackwagon's pocket if he put a gun to my head. Juss' sayin'...

Pay to be on Facebook? That would be a big NOPE. I do not use it when it was free.
ReplyDeleteThat money then can be used to censor the people in the UK.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME idea!
"But but but 'Having to pay a fee to say what you want' in 3... 2... 1...
ReplyDeleteOnce a large enough base of paying FB customers is signed on they will END the "free" version and then ad advertising to the PAID version....COUNT ON IT.
ReplyDeleteI use FB, but only because it's a quick way to check on what my family and friends are doing. And, it's free.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to pay, I wouldn't. I'd figure out the electronic equivalent of a community bulletin board, and invite people to join. Those that didn't, I'd shrug and accept I wouldn't have much of any way to keep in contact.
