Eligibility rules, outreach, and administration vary widely by state, so participation rates reflect policy choices as well as need.

ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago there was an article in the newspaper where somebody accidentally published the names of children who had free school lunches "because their parents were poor".
That was the same week that same newspaper mentioned that one kid's parents had just bought a new house, of course WAAAAAAY over the poverty line.
A lot of this free cr.p is just BS, ANYONE can sign up and automagically get it.
It got so bad that here in Colorado the socialist now are just giving free breakfast and lunch to EVERYBODY.
There is of course no money for that so, hey, new taxes.
Time to fire welfare recruits. Older sister and her hubby worked very hard, succeeded in life. While she was in the maternity ward a woman came through trying to sign up new welfare recipients. Recruiter knew of programs and benefits few people have ever heard of.

ReplyDeleteGo to the grocery store a couple times a week here in PA. It seems that that 15% is kinda low. Other day, woman had a cart full of king crab legs. Paid with a snap card, then she went out and loaded all that crab in a relatively new Lincoln Navigator.
