Here's a couple examples of what are straight-up lies
from recent national news items...
These are prime examples of misrepresentation in the news. Rather than reporting what has happened, all of these items project what the writer wants to happen, and that, my dear friends, is not not news. It's not even reportage. It's wishful thinking on the part of mostly-liberal, college educated jerkoffs and their editors and publishers who all think we give a fuck what they think. Surprise, Sherlock - we don't...
'Alligator Alcatraz' is not closing. Period.

Buddy of mine was at yesterday afternoon's Yankees game and he texted me this picture from his seat. There is something truly magical in that for me. We usta call 'em 'nose bleed seats' but the reality is they're relatively inexpensive and they give you a view like that. What more could you want from going to the stadium? I do miss it - that I will admit...

A Burning Man attendee was electrocuted and flown to a trauma center Tuesday night as fresh storms on Wednesday forced organizers to close the gates again...
Authorities “received a call regarding an unknown male subject who had reportedly stepped into a puddle of water and potentially been electrocuted,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

I mostly agree with that - with two caveats. The Black Cherry concentrate that I take daily to control my gout is not a supplement, and the fish oil pill is to help knock down cholesterol - at least that's what my Doc told me. Other than those two, I don't do anything like a 'supplement' - do you?
I think we've reached a point where placebo effects com eion to play more than actual results, don'tcha think?

Do you like a strong cup of tea?
I found this in Belfast a few years ago.
It's the best tea I've ever tasted.
It's not cheap, but trust me - it's worth it.

Loved the photo of Yankee Stadium, especially the on deck "circles". I mean the on deck advertisement.
ReplyDeleteI frankly don't give a rat's ass what people think about how I dress, what car I drive, etc. I'm neat, clean, generally well-mannered. If someone concludes I'm stupid, poor, or makes some other pejorative presumption based on how I look, that may be their problem, it's certainly not mine.
ReplyDeleteI was car shopping a few years ago, and a neatly dressed older gent - jeans and a work shirt - was ignored by the sales staff for a while. Older salesman noticed, approached, and while I was there sold him a six figure car. Cash. I heard him tell a couple of 25 year olds "never assume". He was right; I happened to know the guy: he could have bought the dealership for pocket change. Same guy went to my barber; he picked a chair and took his turn like the rest of us. Nobody in the community thought anything about it, it was just the way he was. He was the same way at the local burger joint. Grabbed a stool, took his turn.
I wear clean t-shirts, cargo shorts and sandals year round here in Gainesville, FL. Why? Because, during the day, even if it's freezing outside, some jackass will turn the heat up to 80-85 degrees in the stores or offices.
ReplyDeleteThe only time I wear sweat pants and a jacket is when it's actually friggin cold outside and I have to walk the dog.
As to that Black Cherry Extract? Haven't been woken up by 'burning feet' since I started taking it. Thanks to you posting that info I can get a decent night's sleep (except for lurching to and from the bathroom, of course.)
