During the Solomon Islands campaign, a Marine on night sentry duty heard someone approaching in the jungle and fired a few bursts from his machine gun. A voice called out: "Hold up your fire! At some point we have to make the penalty so stringent that the threat of prosecution and conviction is sufficient to ward people off of hiring them. When there is no demand for their services, they stop coming here, and/or go home. But then again...

The more eggs/less Alzheimer's link? Look up Dr Joel Wallach. He's been saying that for years. Mom's parents ate eggs every day, lived on the farm into their 90s, then were forced to move into an assisted living center. Fine with grandad. The new place was only a block from the tavern.

Norm Macdonald liked to gamble. He once won $27k at poker. A friend came over and asked for a beer and Norm said sure in the fridge. When the friend opened the fridge there was $27k in poker chips in there. He asked Norm why he didn't cash them in. He said he wanted to talk to his lawyer about getting out of taxes. Later his friend asked him about the money and Norm said he lost it all at poker. (wink, wink?)

ReplyDeleteUp until last year stores in calif couldn't donate produce. Senate Bill 1383 first went into effect in 2022 requiring certain businesses, such as grocery stores, to donate unused food to food recovery ...

ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about restaurants and servers, this tipping thing is BS. It's not my job to pay their wages while the company pays them peanuts. These days they even expect a tip when you collect your takeout order from the counter.
In other countries the price you see is the price you pay, none of this tipping BS.!
