Many Gen-Z’ers have the wrong idea about what Socialism really is. The overly optimistic view of Socialism is taking over, and many young people are diving deeper into the ideology. A March 2025 survey conducted by the Cato Institute in partnership with YouGov found that fully 6 in 10 New Yorkers between ages 18 and 29 had a favorable view of socialism.
Worse yet, a staggering 34% had a positive view of communism. Compare that with just 2% of senior citizens, who are old enough to remember some of the ideology’s atrocities. Young Americans are so cozy with destructive ideologies because they’re woefully uninformed.
Less than 1 in 5 Zoomers were proficient in history when they were in the 8th grade, according to NAEP reports. If they had even a basic understanding of history, surely they’d know of the 100 million plus lives communism claimed in the 20th century through unimaginable hardships in Soviet gulags, Chinese repression and famine and genocidal regimes such as the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia and the Castro disaster in Cuba...
Draft them and send them to Ukraine.

ReplyDeleteWhen the government controls the "education" system, you can pretty much guarantee that the crimes of government are NEVER going to be taught, or explained as the natural result of giving too much power to government, putting too much faith in government, etc. In fact, just the opposite. The only difference between the failings of Gen Z and previous generations is time, and the fact that the other brainwashed generations have had more time to UNLEARN the government lies. Get government 100% OUT OF EDUCATION and everyone might have the ability to actually learn the truth that government is their real enemy and always has been.

ReplyDeleteYoung people have, since at least the 1860's, thought that communism and socialism was better than not-communism and not-socialism.
ReplyDeleteIt's why Churchill famously said, "If you're not a liberal when you're 20, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative at 30, you have no head." Or something like that.
It was youngsters who loved FDR and voted for him. It was youngsters who voted in JFK (that, and illegal ballots in Chicago.) Young people who overwhelmingly voted for Carter, for Clinton, for Obama.
Look at all the big Youth or Student movements in the 20th and 21st Century. Communists and Socialists, all.
