I read an article that said there's virtually no difference between these two membership-only behemoths. The article basically discounted BJ's as the red-headed step child of the genre, but all three do have one thing in common with the others. They all generate the vast majority of their profits by selling - and retaining - memberships. Products and services are sold at all three at basically cost just to get and keep members. Fascinating business models huh?

Joe Biden has sold his presidential memoir's publishing rights for around $10 million, falling millions of dollars short of the sums that the Obamas and Bill Clinton received for their memoirs, according to a report Wednesday evening.
Biden sold the worldwide rights to his memoir, which does not yet have a publishing date, to the Hachette Book Group for "an advance in the range of $10 million."

There were no 'helicopter parents' when we were kids. Basically, we'd go out and do whatever it was we wanted to do without having to get much clearance from the home front, and that was fine with them as long as we didn't come home in an ambulance or the back seat of a squad car.
There were two distinct times we had to home - under penalty of death. One was 'home for dinner', in our case 5:30 on the dot every day. That was all year-round. The other was 'come home when the street lights come on', which mostly only applied in nicer (anything above 40 degrees) weather.

The MSM will do everything in their power to knock this story down. If it's as legit as it sdounds on the surface, this could be the single biggest scandal in American history, but only if it's true, and pursued as vigorously as we'd hope it would be...

If you’re looking for the biggest monster the universe has to offer, meet TON 618 a black hole so massive and ancient, it rewrites what we thought was possible. Clocking in at an estimated 66 billion times the mass of our Sun, TON 618 isn’t just big it’s on a scale so vast it defies human imagination. Its event horizon, the point beyond which nothing not even light can escape, is 30 to 40 times wider than the entire Solar System, reaching far beyond even the outermost edge of the Oort Cloud.
But TON 618’s story isn’t just about size it’s about age. The light we detect from it began its journey to Earth 18.2 billion years ago. That’s older than the Earth, the Sun, and even our home galaxy, the Milky Way. Let that sink in: this black hole was already fully formed, consuming matter and bending spacetime, long before our corner of the universe even existed. It’s not just a black hole it’s a living fossil from the ancient cosmos.
TON 618 serves as a staggering reminder of the scale, mystery, and power of the universe we live in. It challenges our understanding of time, space, and cosmic formation. We don’t just look at TON 618 to study black holes we look at it to confront the immensity of the unknown. This isn't just astrophysics it's awe.

Obama and Hillary as in the same pose as the CEO/HR couple that got busted on the kiss-cam. Basically embarrassed that something they shouldn't be doing was brought to light. It's subtle. I like subtle.
ReplyDeleteI think the Obama - Hillary cartoon is a play on the Coldplay concert lovebirds. They are afraid they're in the spotlight and know there will be troble from it.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Carl Sagan believes in God now?
ReplyDeleteThat massive black hole once again shows how unimportant we are in the scheme of things.
ReplyDeleteChurch tithes should not be taxed because we the people already paid taxes on that. However the buildings and property should be taxed like everyone else. Lavish multi-million dollar Churches are anti Gods message of helping the less fortunate. And tax the hell out of their art collections, expensive cars and $4k suits.
ReplyDeletechurches (all-encompassing) are dedications to G-d and his worship, whether ir not you believe in the version that's being . propounded. unless specific and definite fraud (another all-inclusive term) can be shown, I say leave them and their devotees be.
ReplyDelete10 million to Biden for his memoirs, he can’t even remember if he pooped today
ReplyDeleteIf churches paid those taxes, I 100% guarantee that neither the food stamp costs nor homelessness would be addressed. The government would simply waste all the new money on more crap nobody wants, or to fund the criminal governments of Ukraine and Israel and others.
ReplyDeleteIn Re church taxes: way the heck a long time back ago, newspapers were taxed. the problem with that was that you need a tax license to collect taxes. If a politician wanted to put the kibosh on a story about corruption they could pull the tax license and kill the story. Supreme Court put an end to that. Churches are not taxed as a result of this decision. You could shut down a religion by not giving it a tax license.
ReplyDeleteThere really is no difference between Sagan and Ms. Blowfish Lips. Both are pandering, nasally lackwits that are considered by their fans to be much more than they are.
ReplyDeleteSagan was basically a white Neill DeGrasse Tyson. Thought he knew about everything but was woefully lacking in anything outside of his subject field of Astronomy. A smooth talking a-hole. Dr. Travis Taylor is a much more articulate and well rounded scientist. Sagan just fit the mold of snobby New Englander with a degree while Travis Taylor comes across as a knowledgeable Bubba-Redneck.
Costco vs. Sam's Club: Sam's sells cheap Chinese items and low quality meats. Costco sells a higher quality of items and Select and Choice cuts of meat. It is like grocery shopping at WalMart vs. Publix.
