Is nothing sacred anymore?

General Mills agreed to stop calling the oats in its Nature Valley granola bars '100 percent natural' to settle a lawsuit by three consumer groups that said the bars contained small amounts of the herbicide commonly known as Roundup.
Beyond Pesticides, Moms Across America and the Organic Consumers Association on Thursday said the settlement calls for General Mills to remove the phrase "Made with 100% Natural Whole Grain Oats" from Nature Valley labels. The groups said independent tests showed that the granola bars contained 0.45 parts per million of glyphosate, and that oats were the "most likely" source of the herbicide.
They (the 'groups') had to dig pretty friggin' deep to find something that miniscule in the product. Ya gotta wonder what put that bug up their collective asses. I'm sure it wasn't a money thing, right?

The Trump administration has raised the possibility of stripping Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic mayoral candidate for New York City, of his US citizenship as part of a crackdown against foreign-born citizens convicted of certain offences. Stay tuned...

Living their lives the best they could during 'the troubles', a woman sneeks a peak out her front door on Peel Street, in Belfast back in 1972.
The Troubles were a conflict in Northern Ireland that lasted for about 30 years from the late 1960s to 1998. Also known internationally as the Northern Ireland conflict, it began in the late 1960s and is usually deemed to have ended with the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. It was a time of violent sectarian conflict between the overwhelmingly Protestant unionists (loyalists), who desired the province to remain part of the United Kingdom, and the overwhelmingly Roman Catholic nationalists (republicans), who wanted Northern Ireland to become part of the republic of Ireland.

How loud ya think this was?

That's almost too subtle, even for me. Get it?

  1. hey, we have a semi feral cat that hangs around we call "Tigger" that looks just like yours . big loving goof ball of a cat.
started out with 4 strays when we moved in here. told the wife to put some cat food out and they would keep the mice/critters down. well, we had up to 13 of them, got them all "fixed" after a year and now we down to about 9 left.
after 8 years, they still do a great job of keeping the house critter free as they kill just about everything.
your cat looks great by the way.

  2. Glyphosate - if you're in good health it's no biggie. If you're allergic to the stuff then it is.

  4. The thing about glyphosate is that it's in so many things that it's cumulative. I quit eating Quaker Oatmeal years ago. Besides oats turn to sugar as soon as you eat them.

  5. The war in No Ireland was sad just like what went on in Sarajevo. Innocent civilians being gunned down and families destroyed. Now it's Ukraine and Israel.

    1. The war in Northern Ireland was a masterpiece of Soviet planning. At the peak, it diverted some 23,000 troops from the Fulda Gap area for a minimal amount of supplies and support, mostly delivered through 3rd parties.

  8. Glyphosate is quite literally the bug up these people's back ends, and oh, how it bites.

Actually almost everyone has some sort of reaction to glyphosate. Often it's mild enough to be misconstrued as "age" or "the weather" or "something going around." In some people it impairs brain function so that they don't know they're having reactions, but everyone else can tell. Identical reactions are unusual but the ones people notice as not just "something going around" often involve internal bleeding, usually but not necessarily from the colon.

Glufosinate is being rolled out this year to replace glyphosate. Because of the chemical similarities, it was PREDICTED that people who react badly to glyphosate would have even worse reactions to glufosinate. And so we do.

Bottom line, Nature Valley and most other grain products really need a warning like "EATING THIS MAY CAUSE INTERNAL BLEEDING," but they settled for removing the lie that it's "100% Natural."

Thanks for the giggles, and an extra scritch or snuggle or whatever to the cat,

Tidy up or pay the fiddler...

This house is about four blocks from my house, and, yes, it is a shithole. A Villager has been given one week to remove debris from his prop...
