Damn near everything we like in Florida 'they' (blue states) don't...

Fireworks are legal in Florida on certain holidays, specifically New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, and the Fourth of July. However, even on these holidays, some types of fireworks, like those that explode or fly, may still be restricted, according to Kanner & Pintaluga. Sparklers, novelty items, and other smaller pyrotechnics are generally permitted year-round, according to WFLA.
Fireworks are legal to use on New Year's Eve (December 31), New Year's Day (January 1), and Independence Day (July 4). Even on these holidays, certain types of fireworks, like those that explode or fly, may still be restricted or require permits, but nobody really cares.

Sparklers, novelty items (like snappers and party poppers), and other small pyrotechnics are generally permitted year-round. Local governments and HOAs can have additional restrictions, so it's always best to check with your local authorities. Fireworks can also be used year-round for the purpose of frightening birds from agricultural works and fish hatcheries.

  1. As a kid in Socal we used to have fireworks stands all over on the 4th. It's how the Kiwanis Clubs, Boy Scouts etc made money. They had most everything but cherry bombs.

  3. Here in TN I just saw four fireworks tents in one Kroger parking lot.

  4. Here in NE Nebraska there are fireworks stands in every grocery store, box store, and every other big store parking lot with signs saying 50%-75% off a week before the Fourth. I haven't bought any since the days of Cherry Bombs and real bottle rockets. There was a local who along with his brothers would make the trip to Missouri and come back with M80's, and every other firework that wasn't legal in Nebraska. Of course this was in the 60's and 70's.
