A newly approved test can tell if you're going to 'lose it'...

This amazing device can tell your doctor
if you have onset Alzheimers...

Lumipulse is the brand name for automated immunoassay systems developed by Fujirebio. Fujirebio US Inc is a leading biotechnology company based in Malvern, PA, specializing in the development and manufacturing of innovative diagnostic solutions for various medical conditions.
These systems utilize technology to measure various biomarkers in human samples. One of the most notable applications of Lumipulse is in the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, where it can measure specific proteins in blood and cerebrospinal fluid to help identify amyloid plaques in the brain.
It uses CLEIA (chemiluminescent enzyme immunoassay) technology to detect and quantify specific proteins in biological samples. The instruments are designed for use in clinical laboratories and hospitals.
Lumipulse G systems are used to measure biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease, including amyloid beta (Aβ)1-42, total tau, and phosphorylated tau. These proteins are associated with the formation of amyloid plaques in the brain, a hallmark of Alzheimer's. The Lumipulse G pTau217/ß-Amyloid 1-42 Plasma Ratio test is a recently FDA-cleared blood test that measures these proteins in plasma to help diagnose Alzheimer's, reducing the need for more invasive PET scans or spinal taps.
The test is specifically for adults aged 55 and older who are experiencing memory or thinking problems. While the test is a significant advancement in testing for the condition it, does nothing to prevent the onset.

On a personal note, my Dad had Alzheimers, and his condition was the reason why we moved back to the States - to help my Mom with her burden. It was a long and painful (mostly for us) journey until he eventaully passed. Maybe some day I'll tell the story of how he helped himself move on...

  1. The device is testing for a compound that may exist in Alzheimer's patients but the causal relationship between beta amyloid plaques and the disease is now being questioned, the seminal paper on the topic has been exposed as a fraud. Plus no drug treating plaques has delayed or reversed Alzheimer's disease symptoms in trials.

My father died with dementia in 2017 but we (and his neurologist) thought it was mostly old age, the damage of multiple UTIs, and too many micro-strokes.

  2. My mother had Alzheimer's and it really sadden me to see here that way. The only person she recognized was my young son although she couldn't remember his name or who he actually was who he was. She died of a stroke. Haunts me to this day.

  3. I'm a big supporter of legalising assisted suicide, people should have the option of a humane exit and I also don't want to be a burden on others. But the pro-lifers and religious nuts will do their utmost to deny one this.

  4. Alzheimer's is a tough one for all involved.

This house is about four blocks from my house, and, yes, it is a shithole. A Villager has been given one week to remove debris from his prop...
