This time Saturday...

Sadly, Rockshore is not yet available here  in the States, but if you ever get to Ireland or England, find one for yourself, and thank me later. It is, by faar, the best lager I've ever tasted, and trust me - I've tasted a few. Guinness produces Rockshore. Specifically, Rockshore Irish Lager is brewed by Guinness. It's a lighter, refreshing lager, often found alongside Guinness's other lager, Hop House 13, at pubs. Guinness also produces Rockshore Apple Cider.
If you weren't aware, Guiness is no longer a stand-alone brewery. Like everybody else and their brother, Guiness is part of Diageo - a super conglomerate who's distilleries produce 40 per cent of all Scotch whisky with over 24 brands, such as Johnnie Walker, J&B and Buchanan's. Its brands outside whisky include Guinness, Smirnoff, Baileys, Captain Morgan, Tanqueray and Gordon's.

If you can't be in an actual Irish pub,
you can pretend. Keep 'em cold...

Hot wheels? You better hope not...

According to CNBC, a dangerous challenge spreading on TikTok and other social media platforms has car owners and police departments on alert across the country — challenging young teens to steal certain cars off the street using a USB cord.
The target? Certain makes and models of 2010-2021 Kia and Hyundai vehicles that use a mechanical key, not a key fob and push-button to start the car. Investigators tell CNBC the trend started last year and the number of cars being stolen is continuing to surge across the country.
In St. Petersburg, Florida, police reported more than a third of all car thefts there since mid-July are linked to the TikTok challenge. Los Angeles officials say the viral trend has led to an 85% increase in car theft of Hyundais and Kias compared with last year.

The story is the same in Chicago, according to Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart. “In our jurisdiction alone, thefts of certain models are up over 800% in the last month,” he said. “We see no end in sight.”

The average sinking rate across the city is between 0.4 to 5.9 inches annually. This rapid subsidence has resulted in nearly half of Jakarta being submerged under the sea level, posing a significant threat to its future. The primary culprit behind this sinking is the excessive extraction of groundwater.

The Indonesian capital of Jakarta is home to 10 million people but it is also one of the fastest-sinking cities in the world. If this goes unchecked, parts of the megacity could be entirely submerged by 2050, say researchers. Is it too late? It sits on swampy land, the Java Sea lapping against it, and 13 rivers running through it. So it shouldn't be a surprise that flooding is frequent in Jakarta and, according to experts, it is getting worse. But it's not just about freak floods, this massive city is literally disappearing into the ground.

I guess everybody who owns their own home or a business here is kinda totally fucked. The BBC did a pretty good report on this here.

How hot is it?

Today has been civilized by most mid-Florida mid-summer standards, but this last week has been an HVAC repairman's nightmare. It's been well over 100 every day for a week with what they love to call the 'real feel' temps averaging around 115+. This guy was actually able to fry an egg on his sidewalk with no flame. Yeah - that hot. Whew. Click on the screen cap to see his short video on YouTube...

Try not to listen to your liberal friends.
They may make your brain explode...

For some lib idiots, who took to social media to object to the campaign, the message seemed to echo the dark legacy of eugenics and “Nazi propaganda.”
The Nazis were mass murdering scum of the fucking earth. Great comparison guys and gals - and guy/gals.

Smokey the Bear smokes out a Florida Man...

There's a lot to love about Florida, and Florida Man is one of those things that's distinctly 'Florida'. This Florida guy takes the cake - I mean - he takes the signs. Smokey the Bear helped law enforcement arrest a man for stealing his signs from across Florida and selling them on Facebook Marketplace. The guy was posting the signs on Facebook Marketplace for $1,900 apiece, according to Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson in this report.
“Our Ag Law Team has a suspect in custody who traveled from Pensacola to Orlando stealing Smoky Bear signs from our state forests and selling them on Facebook Marketplace for $1,900 each,” he continued.

“Big thank you to Smokey the Bear for personally assisting in the arrest.” The suspect, whose identity was not released, was transported to jail following his arrest.

Ozzie, we hardly knew ye...

The Bostin’ Brass, a local Birmingham marching band, led the funeral procession with a selection of Sabbath classics. Aaron Diaz, trumpeter and bandleader for Bostin’ Brass, told Rolling Stone, “Ozzy is such an indelible part of Birmingham’s music scene. He represents so much about the city’s pride and humility and humbleness and sense of humor.
He’s really become like a totem for the city. To be at the forefront of the parade at the funeral in the cortege and to represent that as a musician from Birmingham feels high pressure but privileged.” - Rolling Stone Magazine

Is it a surprise that Birmingham has a muslim Mayor?

The fax machine was invented in 1843 by Alexander Bain, a Scottish inventor, who patented the device. It used a mechanism to scan handwritten or printed images and then transmit them over telegraph lines. This early fax machine laid the groundwork for later developments in fax technology, including the first recognizable version of what we consider the telephone fax patented by the Xerox company in 1964.

Be there Monday...

Ballymastocker Beach, also known as Portsalon Beach, located on the Fanad Peninsula in County Donegal, Ireland. This stunning Blue Flag beach is situated on the western shores of Lough Swilly and stretches from Portsalon village towards the Knockalla Hills.
It was once named the second most beautiful beach in the world by the readers of the British newspaper, The Observer. Ballymastocker Beach is known for its golden sands, clear waters, and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, including the Twelve Bens mountains.

Watching reruns...

It's a quote that could come from a war veteran or prisoner of war when asked to describe the horrors of their experience. An example of post traumatic stress syndrome, perhaps. War, however, has nothing to do with his particular quote. That quote is from a Florida inmate and he's referring to the kids in Robert Zemeckis' The Polar Express.
James Poulin, an inmate at the Brevard County Detention Center in Florida, filed a lawsuit complaining that he's being tortured by the people running the jail because he's forced to watch the same movies over and over again. The jail doesn't have cable so they play a limited selection of DVDs, which include Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down and The Polar Express, repeatedly.

Poulin was trying to get the jail, which had to drop regular TV when the digital switchover happened, to introduce more programming. It was an interesting case. Do convicted criminals deserve to watch television? And can it actually be torture hearing the same movies all the time?
