Sail on, sailor...

Certainly one of the greatest composers/producers of my lifetime, his is a legacy that defies comparison. Think about the Beach Boys in their prime - the early 60's, and you're hard pressed to not have at least one great memory tied to one of their songs. Goodbye, my 'friend' - I hardy knew ya...

To me, this is their masterwork -
his greatest accomplishment.
'Wouldn't it be nice' to have it?

  1. A lot of us like the Beach Boys over the Beatles. American music, after all. And, if you know their story, those guys not only earned their success, they deserved it.

  2. We all have to check out on the final transfer date. Regular listener of the BB, I enjoyed the 2012 Album too, it was on regular rotation. That's why God made the radio, indeed. Nice post! Barco Sin Vela II

  3. The Beach Boys had an incomparable sound that epitomized the popular music of America's last great golden age. Their music was simple and sweet on the surface and complex and innovative on deeper examination. Brian was a true creative genius. It is impossible to separate their optimistic sound and the themes they sang about from the good times everyone remembers from that era.

  4. I just read an obit where Paul McCartney said that he listened to the Bech Boys' "Pet Sounds" album and was inspired to record their own "Sgt Peppers" album.

Also, people who mess with drugs and overindulge in booze end up with brain damage. So sad.

  5. Brian seemed like he had serious problems with reality and taking care of himself for quite some time now. He certainly was a talent though.

  6. Now look up the connection between the Beach Boys and Charlie Manson.
