Trump said the ban has been imposed in response to the recent suspected terror attack in Boulder, but it probably was something he wanted to do anyway. The countries hit with a full ban include Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
In addition to the outright ban, heightened restrictions will be slapped on visitors from Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela. “I must act to protect the national security and national interest of the United States and its people,” Trump said in a proclamation.
The sweeping list stems from a January 20 executive order, in which Trump tasked the State Department, Homeland Security, and the Director of National Intelligence with flagging “hostile attitudes” and countries that pose a national security risk.
The amount of activity coming out of the West Wing must be scaring the fuck out of most of the old-school, old-timer people on the Hill. They'd have a hard time remembering a President who is this proactive.

The Pentagon plans to rename the USNS Harvey Milk, named after the late gay rights leader, and is reviewing the names of a class of ships named after Black and Hispanic civil rights leaders and prominent women.
The USNS Harvey Milk is named after the Navy veteran and San Francisco politician who was assassinated in 1978. There's no timeline for the renaming or what new name the fleet replenishment oiler will be.

ReplyDeleteWe used to watch a lot of British tv shows, mostly detectives. After the police turned on their own people I can't stand to watch any of it. Tough guys who arrest people for their thoughts while letting invaders rape a quarter million little English girls. Why would anybody watch that?
ReplyDeleteMy parents took us to old ghost towns and historic sites and a lot of Nat'l Parks in the west. Always stopped to read the markers. Went to Disneyland once when it really was for kids to be kids.
