A Lucky Strike? or the hand of god...

What we have here is a photo of George Floyd’s mural
in Toledo, Ohio after being struck by lightning…

A George Floyd mural located in the 'historic district' of Toledo, Ohio was struck by the wrath of god. The mural was a tribute to a guy who died while being pinned to the ground by a police officer in 2020 because he kept resisting the arresting officer instead of submitting.
Many murals were created worldwide after Floyd's death as a way to remember him - a guy some people say was a dead beat Dad, convicted felon and drug addict - to protest what BLM claimed at the time was 'racial injustice'.
The mural was destroyed by what some might say was a 'lucky' lightning strike. The city of Toledo plans to work with the arts commission to create a new mural in its place. I guess the Toledo taxpayers will be paying for it's replacement.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) — Immigration and Customs Enforcement executed a huge construction site operation in Tallahassee - right under the noses of our state leaders - on Thursday that ended with the arrests of over 100 immigrants without legal status. ICE Tampa led the operation, which included support from the FBI, DEA, ATF, FDLE, U.S. Marshals and IRS Criminal Investigation.
Officials did not name the construction site or employer, but said the migrants who were arrested were from Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Colombia and Honduras, among other countries.
ICE said one immigrant was taken into custody for resisting arrest and is being charged with four counts of assault on officers, and another attempted to draw a weapon.
This is not the first large-scale arrest that has happened in Florida since President Trump took office in January and DeSantis signed on as a partner in his mass deportation plans.
If I was in charge of something, I'd also criminally charge the owners of the construction company, the developers and any crew bosses olr site managers involved in the construction site. Maybe that's why I'm not in charge, huh?

See, now, I've always thought that most religions - the organized ones anyway - were in place to preach and teach tolerance, respect and acceptance of the differences in other people, other groups, and other people's beliefs.
Was I wrong in thinking that?, because it strikes me that religions of all kinds have been responsible for more killing than anything else mankind's been able to come up with. Can you explain it to me? I'm just another semi-failed Catholic boy who gave up on the church and it's butt-grabbing men in black robes 60 years ago...

The Miami Marlins set an MLB record for the lowest (actual)attendance at their game against the Colorado Rockies, with only 137 people in attendance. The number does not include season ticket holders who were no-shows, nor does it include the janitors, the one hot dog guy, and the players and umpires who had no choice - they had to be there. The Rockies won the game, improving their record to 10-50.
LoanDepot Park, the home of the Miami Marlins, is a retractable roof stadium located in Miami, Florida. It has a seating capacity of 37,442, making it the third-smallest stadium in Major League Baseball by official capacity. The park also hosts soccer matches, fundraising galas, and other events. It was LEED certified as the 'greenest MLB park' in 2012.

LEED certification focuses on various aspects of building sustainability, including energy efficiency, water use, material selection, indoor environmental quality, and site development.

The Marlins team can't win, so I guess it's a good thing that the stadium they play in won something...

Governor Desantis said yesterday the "Florida doesn’t tolerate squatters; we stand with property owners. We already have strong protections for homeowners, and the bills I signed today will ensure the same protection for business owners.
• Senate Bill 322 streamlines the removal of unauthorized occupants from commercial properties.
• Senate Bill 606 strengthens hotel and motel owners’ rights against nonpaying or uncooperative guests.
Florida is a great state to live, visit, and do business because we uphold the rule of law. Scammers looking to game the system by unlawfully squatting on other people’s property will face consequences and be removed."

I've stayed in this hotel a number of times, especially in 1988 (?) when my brother got married there. It was like a friggin' war zone back then with all that IRA shit going down - what is now referred to as 'The Troubles'...

"There are no plans for a proclamation for the month of June, but I can tell you that the president is very proud to be a president for all Americans, regardless of race, religion, or creed," Leavitt said Tuesday during a White House press briefing. But up in New Jersey:

  1. The Immigration Reform and Control Act (1986) put into law criminal and civil penalties for companies or individuals that employed illegal aliens. Never been enforced. Sigh.

    1. I should add that even though my opinion about Troopers, I never ever received a ticket for anything while driving a car or truck in NJ. Actually, in 30 years of driving a rig, I only received 2 tickets, both were in Ohio.

  4. Religions kill people because adherents to them become convinced that what they believe is the absolute truth and anyone who thinks otherwise threatens them. From what I've seen, anyone who is deep in the thralls is one helluvan intolerant bastid.

  5. Ridiculous that bills have to be passed to get squatters out of your house, that you paid for and paid taxes on. INSANE!

  7. Your beliefs on religion are too simple minded, you can't lump them all together as bad. Who is it that is trying to take over the world by force? And what about those who believe government is god and how many billions have they killed? Who really killed more? BTW of the 107 billion people who ever lived, most before organized religion, practiced human sacrifice and cannibalism? Millions if not billions were slaughtered "just because we can."

  8. Re religion...The past 8 years of lockdowns, censorship, drag shows, LGBTQ in schools should convince us we need religion to hold us in check because we can't be trusted to do the right thing. People will get pissed I said that but they know it's true. Few people have the strength to resist evil when it presents itself as harmless and virtuous.

  9. Religion - if you ignore the death counts created by atheist dictators and Islam, then the killings done by so-called Christian religions look large. Take the Wayback Machine to Rome when it fell. The only surviving large organization was the church in Rome, which had an international reputation for helping people. So...guess who all the people turned to for help. And when all the people turned to the church, where did all the busybody power-mongers go to get and maintain power. I'd say the church in Rome's biggest mistake was in not vetting the position seekers they way they should have. Kinda like what you see in the US today.

I agree with the Aussies. Sorta...

I don't agree with the idea of a country banning social media to a specific group of people - of any age. It's damn near totalitaria...
