Why would anyone wanna kiss their sister?

The saying “like kissing your sister” has been cited in print since at least 1892. Since at least 1918, it applied to drinks without alcohol. Nonalcoholic beer is on track to overtake ale as the second-largest beer category by volume worldwide this year. While overall beer volume fell roughly 1% in 2024, volume for its nonalcoholic counterpart grew 9% worldwide, according to IWSR. The category’s growth accelerated in 2018 and has continued to outstrip the broader beer market since then.
Don't tell me for one second that it's all about the taste'. If ya can't drink because you're alcy, okay accept that's kinda like dancing with the devil, ain't it?

Granted, I'm no counselor and I don't know shit about addiction beyond my love of beer and smokes, but that just doesn't seem kosher to me. And I've made the mistake of tasting those no-proof beers. They taste like shit - or at least what I think a liquid shit would taste like. Convince me I'm wrong...

  1. That might be the gayest thing I've heard this month.
If I wanted to drink non-alcoholic beer, I'd drink Budweiser.

  2. I feel the same way about "lite" beers. like why waste your time with it ? had enough of the 3.2 crap in the army on base.
give me a good lager any day. ice cold is best. spent a few tours in West Germany back in the day and got spoiled by good beer. although, I still think the Danes made the best tasting lager. just hard as hell to find it here in the states.
back then, it came in dark brown glass bottles that would slip right thru your hand if you where not careful.

    1. Lite doesn't always mean lite in alcohol, we have a lite beer that's lite in calories etc but not alcohol and it tastes great.

    2. Well, I do still WANT to drink and miss it badly. However at 66 years I had full blown Afib which required 5 hours of ablation to fix. So no more alchohol for me 😫 NA beer allows me to attend social events or sit in a restaurant with a "drink" in front of me. Vodka was my go to, beer was a second choice. NA beer IS NOT a replacement. Anyone other than DDs or physicaly not able to consume alchohol and chooses to drink NA is crazy!

  3. Light beers? More like light-in-the-loafers, beers for queers. GMAFB. Pretty much the same as carbonated kidney discharge.

  4. 99% of non-alcoholic beer tastes like crap but I have come across a few that taste no different to a normal good beer.

  5. As Joe said, living a life of illusion. This news dovetails well with the recent article that I saw that correlates the American fixation on wretched IPAs to SSRI effects on taste receptors. This country is messed up.

  6. I gotta lose a ton of weight. I used to have a beer with dinner every night. The non-A "beer" is a symbolic substitute so I don't have to change my ritual of many years. Yeah, it's bullshit, but my brain is easily fooled. I will report back later if I actually lose any weight. If not, I'm goin' back
