Here was one President I wouldn'ta wanted to mess with...

Yes, Theodore Roosevelt was well-known for his love of fighting and physical challenges. Roosevelt took up boxing and wrestling at Harvard, and continued to spar throughout his life, even during his presidency. He even built a wrestling mat in the White House workout room. He practiced judo or jiu-jitsu (depending on the source, likely an early form of both) and even became America's first brown belt.
He led the Rough Riders in the Spanish-American War, contributing to the American victory at the Battle of San Juan Hill.
He famously defended himself in a bar fight in North Dakota by physically confronting and knocking out an antagonist who threatened him. Roosevelt was a firm believer in the importance of physical fitness and leading a "strenuous life," and fighting was a way to challenge and strengthen himself.
He saw fighting as a way to prove his courage, willpower, and determination, qualities he also valued in leadership.

Roosevelt's love of fighting wasn't just physical. He was also known for his "belligerent" approach to politics, as exemplified by his efforts to break up trusts and enforce antitrust laws. He believed in taking action and confronting challenges head-on.

  1. He attended Harvard and then became President?
That must have been the OLD Harvard, because these days you are taught to HATE the USA at Harvard (though they still accept taxpayer money of course).

  2. Watch the 1975 movie, "The Wind and the Lion," with Sean Connery as Raisuli, the Arab sheik kidnapper of Eden Pedecaris, an American woman and her two children in Moracco; Brian Kieth as Roosevelt. The Marines take over Rabat in a fighting action. Great desert riding scenes. Kieth does Roosevelt well. Based loosely on a true story.

  3. TR sounds a bit like another President we all know and love.

  4. At one time in history it was perfectly acceptable to visit the white house and beat the brakes off the president for fun. America in deed is a one of a kind country.

  5. When I was a kid we loved wrassling and rough housing. Do kids still do that or is it just all gay now?

Tidy up or pay the fiddler...

This house is about four blocks from my house, and, yes, it is a shithole. A Villager has been given one week to remove debris from his prop...
