After being held for a year and a half, he knows who to thank...

Newly freed hostage Edan Alexander tightly hugged his family members when they were reunited Monday after more than 19 grueling months — as the 21–year-old also held a sign reading “Thank you President Trump.” Alexander, of Tenafly, New Jersey, could be seen at an Israeli facility flashing a bright smile as he was greeted by his mother, Yael, and other relatives following his release from Hamas custody earlier Monday.  The former hostage could be seen laughing as he reunited with his younger brother, who he had not seen in 584 days.

The "30% rule" in housing suggests that you should aim to spend no more than 30% of your gross monthly income on rent, including utilities. This guideline helps ensure you have enough money left over to cover other expenses and financial goals.

Growing up in Newark, there were three of us boys (until sisters came along) in our house, and we did a shitload of hand-me-downs, so I ended up being the third kid to wear pretty much everything they had worn before me, with very few exceptions. My First Communion and Confirmation suits both came from this store on Bloomfield Avenue. Pretty much every one of my friends got their's there as well. The sold everything - shoes, socks, belts, shirts, ties - the whole nine yards. And they did in-store financing.

Listening to a news report yesterday afternoon, it finally struck me why we pay as much as we do and other places - like in the EU - pay so much less. It's because their governments capped the prices there. What happens is, then, that we end up paying so much more to make up for the profits Big Pharma ISN'T making over there. Fuck that and fuck them. No wonder all their stocks went down 20% yesterday. Good. Again - fuck them. Juss' sayin'...

  1. Saw an article that said Celgene makes a cancer drug for 25 cents and sells it for $1000. Worse than used car salesmen and reporters.

  2. Used to be a bank wouldn't give you a mortgage if the bill would be more than 1/3 of your income per month. And this is still not Trumps economy as long as congress sits on its' ass and does nothing but impede him.

  3. Does that 30% include property taxes? If it does, there are plenty of places where you are ether rich or homeless.

  4. Have a Newark question, after finishing the first Philip Roth book of my life. Was it a great place to grow up 50 years ago?
Would you recommend any particular Roth book that gives a real flavor for Newark?
It was The Plot Against America. Clever, but missed that it is the Dems that side with the Nazis and Klan.

  5. Re drug pricing, couldn't agree with you more: socialism is the answer -- Soviet-style price controls on private businesses is just what we need. You do know, don't you, that for some reason all these countries with government-mandated low drug prices don't develop any drugs of their own? I wonder why? And you are also aware, I hope, that many countries, including Canada and the EU, threaten to break the pharma companies' patents and import cheap generics from places like India if they don't play ball with pricing mandates.

In all seriousness, I'm delighted with a lot of what Trump is doing but this drug thing is ridiculous and, potentially, very harmful.
