What the hell is wrong with these GenZ guys, anyway?

Gen Z, or Generation Z, refers to the demographic group of people succeeding Millennials and preceding Generation Alpha, typically defined as those born between 1997 and 2012 - basically mid-teens through young adult stages.
I have friends who have grown kids living with - and mooching off of - them and they don't know what's wrong. They can't hold jobs, they don't date, they fuckin' mope around all the time and most of them have zero social skills.
Fuck dude - throw 'em the fuck out and let 'em fend for themselves, like my old man did to me and my two brothers on our 18th birthdays...

  1. My sister mooched off our parents until they died and she took everything they ever owned. Back when she first moved in after high school, I told my parents that's what would happen if they didn't kick her on to the street. I got the evil eye when I said, "you might be a loser when your kids move out of your parents' house before you do."

I got lucky that both my millennial kids and my gen Z launched successfully.

  2. There may come a time when you are sick, broke, homeless, or whatever and they kick you to the curb. One fire, one tornado, flood or car accident and you could lose it all.
Raise your kids right and it you will be blessed later in life.

  4. Either we got lucky or did something right. My three Gen Z daughters worked their butts off in retail and restaurants through high school. One is a store manager in a decent sized Nebraska town; one is working on her Master's and works as a counselor now, and one has her Bachelor's and works at a high-end family-owned clothing store. My millenial daughter started out as a nurse's aide, worked her way up to a CNA and now an LPN, all on her own. My youngest son found a mom-and-pop electrician in the small town where he grew up and asked to be taught the trade; now he runs a crew for a large shop doing big commercial projects; my oldest son found a company to hire him and teach him on the job how to do network cable and alarm installations; now he does fire and security system inspections in a five-state area. My middle son was a union carpenter; he got into the trade in high school and had really started to hit his stride last year. He committed suicide in November, and I still haven't wrapped my mind around it and don't really understand why.

I like to read about other people whose kids launched successfully, like Anonymous above. I think it says a lot about the parents setting examples and expectations.
