An Australian study found a correlation between the start of Daylight Saving Time (DST) and an increase in male suicide rates, particularly in the weeks following the time change, suggesting that the disruption to circadian rhythms caused by shifting clocks can negatively impact vulnerable individuals and potentially trigger suicidal thoughts in some cases.
Key points about the study: Focus on male suicides - The study primarily observed a rise in suicide rates among men following the commencement of DST.
Circadian rhythm disruption - Researchers attributed the increased suicide rates to the disruption of natural sleep patterns caused by the time change.
Impact on vulnerable populations - The study highlights how even small shifts in sleep schedules can be destabilizing for individuals who are already susceptible to mental health issues.

Sounds like the time changes are more about weeding out potential whack jobs than about "helping" the farmers.

Daylight saving time provides (at least) two days to remind everyone that they DON'T HATE GOVERNMENT ENOUGH.
ReplyDeleteIf the Daylight Savings one hour clock shift is enough to push you over the edge there is no doubt you really do belong in a mental hospital.
