I’ve traveled to the UK a number of times for business and pleasure, and it’s true there are pubs everywhere. But that’s primarily because the pub is the local social center for each neighborhood: restaurant, bar, club, even sporting affiliation. The fact that they all serve local brews along with more national level brands keeps them varied and interesting. I don’t drink, but I still find them socially interesting and many serve a fine meal.
