Anyone who has spent any amount of time around or near Bald Eagles will know and understand that they are scavengers. A bit prettier but no better than crows, ravens or sea gulls. Perhaps "Old - Slow Joe" in his completer and total confusion, never put two and two together as did any of his predecessors who knew that that bird was almost as much of joke as "Old - Slow Joe" himself.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. I think Ben Franklin had the right idea. The national bird should be the Turkey but eagles have a better public relations bureau. Buzzards have a bad rep, but they clean up the messes left by death and that is the same as a good deal of eagle behavior.
