Move over WalMart, Costco and Kroger. Aldi
is about to kick your collective butts...
Last year alone, the privately-owned chain opened almost 120 new stores, surpassing 2,400 locations and consolidating itself as the third largest supermarket retailer in our country. According to company data, one in four American households already shops at Aldi, a figure that has doubled in just six years.
Consumer interest in Aldi is due to its business model based on three very important points: Fewer employees and greater operational efficiency, They have high-quality, low-cost own brands and smaller, more cost-efficient stores to reduce costs
Aldi is presenting itself to the market as an efficient and low-price alternative (without reducing the quality of its products), now it is its competitors who will have to adapt to the low-price giant.
Myself, I've shopped in ALDI stores in five different countries: Here in the States, in Italy, England, Ireland and Northern Ireland (yes - they are two diiferent countries). I would say that, with the exception of one store in Asbury Park, NJ that was a fuckin' shithole back nine or so years ago, every store had a great mix of products, good fresh fruits and vegetables, and some good meats, especially their chicken breasts and thighs.
... Eighty years ago today the assault on Iwo Jima began. For two months, the Japanese-held island of Iwo Jima had been continually pounded by air and naval bombardments.
Today in 1945, the Marines landed to take the island, wading ashore with little or no resistance. But once they were crowded on the beach, the Japanese began their assault. What followed was some of the bloodiest fighting in Marine Corps history. The bunkers and tunnels the Japanese had built protected them during the assault. For the first and only time, American casualties exceeded those of the enemy.
The island was needed because it lay halfway between the Ally-held Mariana Islands and Japan. The island’s air fields, on the far side of Mount Suribachi, were needed for the air assault on Tokyo.
It took five days for the Marines to plant the flag atop Mount Suribachi, but another 21 days before the island was secured. Of the six men we see raising the flag, only three survived the battle.

It seems as if the MSM has already accepted that Kamaltoe will be the next Goobernator of the Land of Fruits and Nuts. If she IS elected, I think the other 49 States should band together and throw that jerkoff State out of the union. On another note, if that is the case that she's the foregone frontrunner, can you imagine how absolutely fuckin' arrogant she must be about it? Good God...

Say what you want about Aldi's low prices, but I still don't see how they can sell those grocery carts for a quarter.
ReplyDeleteThere was a volcanic eruption about a year ago 200 meters from Iwo Jima beach where the landing was.
ReplyDeleteAldis has the 80/20 rule. They have 80% of what I'm looking for. I tend to shop only them and Sam's Club on a regular basis. I still have to go to a full service store on rare occasion. To be fair, I probably could shop Amazon for those items.
ReplyDeleteMy son used to work for a full service store. They had more people working their meat department than in the entire Aldis store. My son would shop Aldis and run into his boss there.
I didn't have any comments until I saw that last gif. Wowza.
ReplyDeleteAldi recently bought 400 Winn Dixie stores throughout the south. About half are being converted to Aldi stores and the other properties will be sold off. Not only did this deal expand Aldi's footprint, it also shut down some of their competition.
ReplyDeleteMy experiences with Aldi are mixed. About 1/2 are good - clean, well stocked, maintained, good staff. The rest are the exact opposite.
