The owner of a nearly $9 million Malibu mansion miraculously spared being leveled by the raging Los Angeles wildfires told The Post on Friday he was stunned to learn that when the smoke cleared, it was still standing.“It’s a miracle — miracles never cease,” said retired waste-management exec and married dad of three David Steiner, 64, of Texas.
Steiner said he thought his stunning three-story California structure — which was vacant at the time — was a goner when a local contractor sent him video of flames and smoke engulfing his property and his neighbors’ Tuesday.
The rest of this story with some pretty insane video from a fly-over is here.
I have a friend that retired from the military 5 years before I did. He got a job with Intelsat in Atlanta. They moved him around to Colorado and then to California where ended up working out of Riverside. He bought a house with new wife 2 in Palisades about 20 years ago. About 5 years back he purchased land in Colorado and started building a retirement home. It is almost complete but his fire insurance was dropped on the California home last May. He sold the house move all but just a few items to Colorado and rented a 1 bedroom apartment where he and his wife have been camping out since last August. His apartment and wife's business are now gone due to the fire. The wife's business was fully insured. He can retire in October and his wife looks as this is a sign for her to retire.
ReplyDeleteWaste Management Exec...the assholes who won't let you throw anything in the trash and charge you through the nose for it. The list of things they won't pick up is longer than the list of stuff they will.
