Scotland’s first minister is leading efforts to persuade President-elect Donald Trump to exclude Scottish whisky from his plans to ratchet up tariffs on imports to the US. The incoming president repeatedly cited his close family and business ties to Scotland: Trump owns two heavily indebted Scottish golf courses, and his mother was born on the Hebridean island of Lewis, a connection the president-elect repeatedly references.
The Scottish whisky industry fears that its lucrative trade with the US, worth over $1bn a year, will again be hit heavily by his proposed new tariffs on all imports or by a resumption of trade wars once Trump takes office.

Donald Trump is expected to be named Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” on Thursday morning after winning the presidential election for the second time. Last year it was Taylor Swift on the cover, so he's in fairly elite company. Also gracing it's cover have been a diverse group, including Adolph Hitler, Pope John XXIII and Joseph Stalin.
The annual cover - which highlights an individual who has greatly influenced the year, for good or ill - is set to be unveiled today, with sources suggesting in advance that the president-elect will grace the cover again.

New Jersey Congressman that there is an “Iranian mothership off the coast of the United States launching … drone incursions.” The claim by U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew came as more and more people are seeing things in the sky they believe to be drones, blurring the line between hysteria and real national security concerns. The War Zone was the first to report about the New Jersey sightings that have since reached a fever pitch in the national consciousness. At the same time, the U.S. Coast Guard has confirmed an incident with one of their ships off New Jersey that was followed by unidentified aircraft.

Iranian drones, huh? As long as Barry the fairy and his boys are still in charge I'm not buying into this story.
ReplyDeleteDrone flights over NJ?
ReplyDeleteNot to worry; they're just filling in the empty spots the Chinese balloons missed. Wanted to get it done before the new management checks in.
Most of the highest grossing singers/musicians are dead or nearly so.
ReplyDeleteIts not like you can bring Scotch Whiskey production BACK to the US. By definition, it can ONLY be made in Scotland. Leave it the hell alone with regards to tariffs. It would be like pretending you can bring Bourbon production back to Texas. By definition, it won't be Bourbon then. Go after the folks hurting our industries if you must, but leave the quality folks alone.
ReplyDeleteAnother, "Get It" in addition to Kansas. The band, Chicago in Illinois. Both of these bands were some of this native Carolina boy's (now FL) favorites growing up in the 70's.
ReplyDeleteHow come no one has brought down any of these drones? Are they hard to hit? What is up with that?
ReplyDeleteHeltau
A couple of F=15E's need to follow the drones back to their source. Then the Eagles need to bomb the drones at their source.
