Do you nap? I do - and you should, too...

If you're somehow unfamiliar with this specific form of stess relief, a nap is a short period of sleep, typically taken during the day, to help with alertness or fatigue. Naps can have many benefits, including: Improved mood - Naps can help you feel less impulsive and better able to deal with frustration.
Improved memory - Naps can help you recall facts learned earlier in the day. Increased alertness: Naps can help you pay attention during meetings or while driving.
Better creativity - Naps can help you learn new skills and be more creative.
Stress relief - Naps can help release stress and improve your immune health.
Heart health - Naps can help your body recover from pressure-filled situations.
Some tips for taking a nap include:
When to nap: Napping between noon and 4 PM is ideal for people who wake up early. Napping too late in the evening can make it harder to go to bed.
How long to nap: A 20-minute nap is usually enough to capture the lightest stages of sleep, which are restorative but easy to wake up from. A 90-minute nap can be more restorative and may be helpful for people who need more sleep.
Set an alarm: Studies suggest setting an alarm so you wake up in time for the next thing in your day if you're that deep a sleeper. Personally, I think setting an alarm makes the whole idea a little stupid.

Shit - I can nod out in my truck at Home Depot. I, however, am a trained professional. Do not attempt this on your own, but if you do, locking the doors is  good idea. Putting a note on the window that says 'I am not having a medical energency' is an even better idea. Juss' sayin'...

  2. I'm napping right now. 30 secs here and there sometimes a few minutes. And tv in the eves is so boring how can you stay awake? Mt gramma napped every afternoon and we weren't allowed to disturb her. Lived to 96.

  4. Here on the farm a noon nap has been a way of life for as long as I can remember. After dinner [noon meal here on the farm] a fifteen to twenty minute nap brings the ability to finish the day and now that I'm retired the noon naps last a bit longer.
