Performances from Lady Gaga and approximately 3,000 dancers, acrobats and actors were hard to hear over the sound of rain, with viewers slamming it as 'the worst Olympic opening ceremony in memory'. Gaffes with country names, the mounting of the Olympic flag and bizarre scenes which saw as headless Marie Antoinette singing peppered the display last night as sport begins in earnest this morning. But among the various artistic tableaus, named after French values such as freedom, fraternity and equality, it was the last supper-style performance in 'festivité' - or party - scene which caused the most controversy. ReplyDeleteYa think they're gonna do a parody of MO-hammed during the closing ceremonies?
ReplyDeleteYah. Me neither.
It was the best opening ceremony as far as I'm concerned.
ReplyDeleteIt was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
ReplyDeleteEven worse was actually trying to watch some competition today. Does anyone give a rats ass about water polo, then a change to skate boarding and back to water polo. I didnt watch much of that crap but kept the tv on in hopes they would show something interesting. And oh yeah, the looonnnnggg interview with some chick that I presume was a competitor from someplace. Again, didnt watch more than a few seconds. I hope NBC takes it up the wazoo, maybe the idiots running that network may learn something.
