Colorful plumage isn’t all this New York bird has to offer. His language is also 'pretty colorful' and definitely not suitable for kids, according to the animal shelter trying to find him a new home.
Pepper, a white-fronted amazon, was picked up by the Niagara SPCA Friday from his former home in Lockport, New York, about 31 miles northeast of Buffalo.
The shelter that has him in custody wants to find him a forever home that can handle his…ahem…needs. Calling the bird a “potty-mouthed parrot,” the Niagara SPCA shared on Facebook Saturday morning that those seriously interested in adopting him next week must be able to handle his foul mouth. USAToday and other weather sources are reporting that Beryl − the first hurricane of the 2024 season − strengthened Sunday into a powerful Category 3 storm packing 115-mph winds as it barreled toward the Caribbean. Beryl, which was 420 miles east-southeast of Barbados on Sunday, "is now a very dangerous ... hurricane. Life-threatening winds and storm surge are expected in the Windward Islands beginning early Monday," the National Hurricane Center said.
They're saying that 'rapid intensification' was expected to continue in the next 24 hours, the center said, and Beryl would likely become "an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane" that could deliver a devastating strike on the Windward Islands. Wind speeds on the islands could be up to 30% stronger on the tops and windward sides of hills and mountains, possibly even higher, the center said.

New Jersey regulators have scheduled a July 19 hearing to decide on the liquor license renewals for two of former President Donald Trump’s golf clubs in the wake of his felony conviction in New York.

Florida, which passed a law to allow permitless concealed carry in March 2023,
saw gun sales go up 1% last year. The Sunshine State was one of only four states to see an increase, with 1,316,471 estimated sales in 2023, according to one report. But that was nothing compared to North Carolina saw a 112% increase in gun sales after their pistol permit law was eliminated in March 2023 by the GOP-led legislature, overriding the Democratic governor's veto.
The other states to see an increase were Illinois (5%), despite a new ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and New Hampshire (3%), which had no new changes in their gun laws. In total, Americans bought 5.5 million guns to start 2024.
