There weren't enough Kyles in Kyle, or so it seems...

NBC News posed a stupid question and got a stupid answer. 'How many people named Kyle can fit in one place?' For one Texas city, not enough. Another attempt by the city of Kyle, Texas, to break the world record for the largest gathering of people with one name fell short Saturday despite 706 Kyles of all ages turning up at a park in the suburbs of Austin.
In case you were wondering, that record is currently held by a town in Bosnia that got 2,325 people named Ivan together in 2017, according to Guinness World Records.

In case you were wondering where the idea for the 'Tiki Bar'
comes from, here's the real skinny: Don the Beachcomber, born Ernest Raymond Beaumont Gantt, was the 'inventor' of tiki restaurants, bars and nightclubs. He was a bootlegger during Prohibition and when it ended, he opened the first 'tiki' bar, gambling that in those Depression years diners would enjoy spending a few hours in a South Seas fantasy world, amid tiki carvings, thatched roofs, bamboo furniture and rain falling on the roof. The many so-called “Polynesian” restaurants and pubs that enjoyed great popularity are directly descended from Don’s Beachcomber CafĂ© in Hollywood in the 1930s. Hugh Hefner, Marlon Brando and Fred Astaire were all regulars.

Senator Bob Menendez' federal bribery trial
is continuing today. Yippee...

When the FBI raided his house in 2022, they found a total of $486,461.00 in bills. All that on top of the now-infamous 13 gold bars. The seizure was part of a complicated bribery case in which prosecutors say the cash, gold and a luxury Mercedes Benz were given to the Menendez couple in exchange for political favors.
Last week marked the first few days in what is expected to be weeks of testimony in the trial of Menendez, a trailblazing Latino lawmaker whose once considerable power in Washington has waned as he fends off his second corruption case. He has, of course, denied any wrongdoing, but I guess we'll all be anxious to find out where that much cash coulda come from. The gold bars are easy to explain - right Bob?

A key strategy of the Menendez defense will be blaming his wife for any failures to disclose the gifts or anything illegal about her arrangements.

Few of us who weren't in the Navy have never seen how big
these friggin' things are. That's my father standing in front of the big deck guns aboard the Battleship New Jersey. He served in a tender/cruiser in the battle of Leyte Gulf alongside the Jersey and told me that to that day he could still hear the roar of those big guns.

New Jersey's main battery consisted of nine 16"/50 caliber Mark 7 guns in three three-gun turrets, which could fire 2,700-pound armor-piercing shells some 23 miles. That is one mean sonofabitch battleship.

The Human Rights Campaign, the largest LGBTQ rights group in the United States that you never heard of, is launching a $15 million commitment to try and help Joe Biden beat Trump in the 2024 election. The spending will cover the six key battleground states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada.
The group says it will include paid ads, staff hires, field campaigns and events in those states. After crunching enough poll numbers, the organization sees 'warning signs' in the form of soft support for Biden in the 2024 electorate - at least that's what NBC News was reported saying...

Back in the day, whenever my mother got a little bored, she'd break out her sewing machine and pattern books and craft these kinda nifty little outfits for me. I was a little stud muffin - check out them shorts. Helluva outfit, ain't it? Even then I was a chick magnet...

That postcard is from 1962 or thereabouts. That beach isn't one-fifth that size
anymore because of storms and erosion.

  1. Yeah, well, Menendez beat it before, he'll probably beat it again and the idiots in NJ will re-elect him again and even if he gets convicted, they'll elect him again. It's the Marion Barry mentality of the state of NJ. How else can you explain the election of Murphy, twice? Of course, PA where I live in is no better. Fetterman, Shapiro, Wolfe, Rendell...The list goes on.
