White House officials told notable TikTok and social media users it was preparing to wipe away their student loans before they announced plans Friday to cancel $7.4 billion in additional debt for 277,000 borrowers.
(They consider them potential voters, not 'borrowers')

The caption said 'They can't steal what they can't find. That's somewhere between brilliant and overkill. And what the fuck kinda counter top is that?

You really can't blame Google for being pissed off about this. This is what happens when very highly-paid lobbyists get their way in a state's legislature.
The California Journalism Preservation Act (CJPA) would require large online platforms to pay a “journalism usage fee” for linking to news sites based in the Golden state. The bill cleared the California assembly in 2023. To become law, it would need to pass in the Senate before being signed by the governor, Gavin Newsom. In a blog post published Friday, Jaffer Zaidi, Google’s head of global news partnerships, explained that the company is experimenting with removing local news links for a “small percentage” of California users in preparation for the bill potentially passing. “We don’t take these decisions lightly and want to be transparent with California publishers, lawmakers and our users,” he said. “To avoid an outcome where all parties lose and the California news industry is left worse off, we urge lawmakers to take a different approach.”
Google will also suspend “further investments in the California news ecosystem”, the blog post said, cutting California publications from its Google News Showcase, a feature that pushes stories to users in a streamlined feed in an effort to boost traffic to publishers.

This is the guy who's blowing the roof off at NPR. He's confirming exactly what I've been preaching about for the last ten years at least. Click on the picture to read his article in the Free Press...

In the house we grew up in on DeGraw Avenue in Newark, there was a half bath in the basement, and my older brother Bob had put one like this in there. He would disappear in to that crapper for hours at a time just to get away from me and TJ. I'm thinkin' he mighta had a coupla old Gent's or Playboys squirreled in there somehow. Juss' sayin'...

    1. Good carch about the side drawer being in a nightstand. Once you visualize the bottom drawer closed it becomes apparent that it would hardly be noticeable if well made. Especially for an intruder in a hurry. It's a great idea not only for valuables but for the bedside M1911 .45 ACP

  3. Tinnitus improves with time? Thar's bullshit of the highest order. I've been suffering with it for more than 60 years after working on military jet fighters chained down to run engine tests at full power. The ringing and other related sounds from tinnitus never ends - it just changes tone, pitch and volume. Never qualified for military disability from it either.
