The art world is all ablush - especially in the asian markets like here at this gallery in Hong Kong - over this English guy who calls himself 'Mr. Doodles'. An interesting thing about this as far as I'm concerned is that he is obviously creating art - of a form - but anyone with even the least bit of art knowledge can see immediately that he's just riffing on the style of Keith Herring.
Herring was a ground-breaking graffiti artist from NYC who died entirely too young. I think this guy is ripping him off - and making millions of dollars doing it. Read this - it's an older story but it's poignant:
