I wasn't in Japan at the time Albert Einstein was, and I don't know German tipping customs, but I've been back and forth to Japan for over 30 years and lived there for 10 years, and it does not have a "Tip" system. I don't doubt the note sold for that amount but there is something wrong with the story somewhere.
