ReplyDeleteMy uncle came here from Connecticut in 1957 to start a carpentry business....he told me the only day he ever took off in his life because it was too cold to work was in Treasure Island Florida, a day which saw sub 30 degrees with the wind coming in from the northwest off the gulf...the moisture combined with the windchill made it intolerable....you see, in Connecticut, the windows and doors are installed when the weather is moderate, so the work inside in the winter is more comfortable....in Florida, at least in those days, the windows and doors were the last installed, leaving no protection from the winter winds....a fact adjusted truth for our northern friends who think we're all pansies....BTW, Ive heard more than one northern invader claim that cool up north is cold down here....something to do with the moisture combined with the wind....whatever....I'm sure the members of the polar bear club think people in upstate New York are pansies, too....LOL...
