Fans aren't ready for Dead & Company to fade away – the band has added more dates to its upcoming residency at Sphere in Las Vegas. Last summer, the band, led by Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Mickey Hart, along with John Mayer, played out The Final Tour, finishing up with three shows in July at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
But on Thursday, Dead & Company announced an upcoming residency at The Sphere, the $2.3 billion venue opened by U2 in September 2023. Initially, the band planned a six-week residency with 18 shows from May 16 to June 22. Pre-registration for ticket sales, which begin Monday, Feb. 5, must have signaled even more demand than expected because the band on Friday said it would extend its residency with six more shows in July.
I went to a Grateful Dead concert at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City back in '76 - against my own better judgement. Anyway, we were poundin' ludes and chianti pretty hard - so much so I passed out in the middle of the show. I woke up/got shooken up abut 45 minutes later and they were still playing the same fuckin' song. I beat feet outta there. I am not and have never been a 'DeadHead'. Juss' sayin'...

We are told splashdown this time is in the Atlantic. The ISS Orbit that best fits this Splashdown time looks like this. Recovery ship Shannon is still in port at Canaveral so I think they are not travelling too far from home. I see airspace restrictions around the Cape and Daytona for space-ops with none on the gulf so I am pretty sure we're going into the Atlantic in that Canaveral-Daytona area. Weather looks clear to partly cloudy so we might be in for quite a show. Looks like it will pass just to the south west of my place.Should be easy to spot if the skies are clear...

I tried to like the Dead. I really did. But after they kept me standing outside in line until after 3 in the morning for a concert that was supposed to start at 10 the night before I said fk it.
ReplyDeleteI’m with you a 1000% on the Dead craze, I never bought into it either. Although I have a brother who is a major Deadhead
ReplyDeleteTo show you how much I am not now, nor ever was, a dead head, the only song I actually listened to was the most commercially accepted song they ever did, A Touch of Grey in 1987,,,,I always thought it was a bunch of ballyhoo over nothing....mostly an excuse to get drugged up and freaked out at their concerts...and as you experienced, passing out and missing most of it anyway....LOL...of course, I understand the sentiment of the free love, anti establishment genre that embraced that culture....hey, it was the 60's, man....then the 70's, and so on....how the hell did we survive it.....anyway, Jerry and the boys got rich off of it....and anybody who is able to accomplish that is okay in my book....
ReplyDeleteIn the bad old days of the '60's, those four that beat the cop would not be able to crawl onto a bus, or maybe even remember why they were in NY, or that they were trying to leave.
ReplyDeleteI read that Marilyn Monroe wore two pairs of nickers in the famous photo, but her bush was still noticeable and the shot was almost cancelled.
ReplyDeleteThe Grateful Dead are a bunch of shit. Drug addicts.
ReplyDeleteJoe D. beat the shit out of Monroe after that photo shoot. Divorce soon followed. Damn she was hawt.
ReplyDeleteMEOW!
