A new report says that plastic producers have known for more than 30 years that recycling is not an economically or technically feasible plastic waste management solution. Plastic, which is made from oil and gas, is notoriously difficult to recycle. Doing so requires meticulous sorting, since most of the thousands of chemically distinct varieties of plastic cannot be recycled together. That renders an already pricey process even more expensive. Another challenge: the material degrades each time it is reused, meaning it can generally only be reused once or twice.
The published report was created by an alarmist group called the Center for Climate Integrity. So now do we believe them and call everyone else a liar? Ya just don't know anymore do you...

  1. I've heard that listening to the acetate of the Beatles Sgt. Pepper album after making Pet Sounds was the beginning of Brian Wilson's depression...I suppose the LSD could've had something to do with it....what a gifted man...a genius....you know what they say about the line between genius and insanity....I never saw the Beatles and the Beach Boys as rivals.....their music was 180 degrees opposed....you either liked one or the other, or both, but I never heard anybody who saw them as rivals....I suppose one can spin anything any way one wants, upon looking back....however, I was there as a teenager in the 60's...I remember no such rivalry...as Brian Wilson once said "There was no rivalry....I was just jealous"....can't understand why....his musical accomplishments were second to none....

  3. Brian hasn't seemed "right" for a very long time. I suspect this has been going on for many many years.

    1. From what years? I went into that store many times in the 1990's, and I never recall seeing the bakery side of things.

  5. We engineers have been telling you for decades that recycling only makes economic sense if it's for aluminum.
Recycling plastics, glass, and paper has always been a political farce.

    1. About 15 years ago when my city still had a local newspaper they ran an expose about the local recycling that really upset the local politicos pushing the recycling scam. At that time we already had separate bins for trash that went directly to the county land fill and "recyclables" that went to a processing center. The newspaper broke the story that the greatest percentage of recyclables that were trucked to the recycling center were sorted out, loaded back on trash trucks and hauled to the land fill because there was no market for most of what residents had so carefully separated from their trash. So not only is the recyclable hoax not "saving the planet", it is wasting taxpayer money, creating useless work and creating more pollution by having to haul thr unwanted recyclables twice to get them into the land fill. And the small income generated from the stuff that is recyclable came nowhere near paying for the cost of the scam. In spite of the truth coming out the scam continues.

  7. Since all environmentalists are emotional, clueless, gullible, dishonest, fraudulent, and motivated by agendas, I don't believe any of them. Everything they say has to be questioned and verified.
