You've heard it a million times, but listen to it as if it's the first time...

Back in the summer of '66, all of my friends were listening to the Stones and the Beatles. This is what I was listening to...

Sheer, unadultrated genius.

  1. Me being a mid 20s NJ boy in the 60s I was a Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons fan

    Eddie Raffs

  2. My first concert 1965

  3. Sorry Joe,never a Beach Boys fan, in fact I coulldn’t stand them

  4. I was 15 in '66. I listened to everything that came on KCBQ AM in San Diego.

  5. It is said that after releasing this album and this song, Brian Wilson was presented with the acetate of the Beatles Sergent Pepper's album....Pet Sounds was to be the crowning achievement of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boy's, and he saw no way it could stand up against the Beatles, and led to the worsening of Wilson's depression....I saw the Beach Boys perform this live in 1966 at the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg, Fl., a venue that no longer exists....the live version was no where near as good as the studio version, for obvious reasons....that said, this was a top hit, and it was unavoidable to turn on the radio at any given time and hear this song within at least the next 5 minutes, followed by California Dreamin'....

Every guy has had at least one...
