Boxing Day is a holiday celebrated in England and the rest of the UK. It's today - the day after Christmas Day, occurring on the 'second day of Christmastide' (whatever that means). Though it originated as a holiday to give gifts to people in need, today Boxing Day is part of Christmas celebrations, with many people choosing to take advantage of Boxing Day sales and otherwise just lazing about.
Is Boxing Day for boxers? In addition to the holiday's emphasis on social connection, there are several other Boxing Day traditions that have evolved over the years. While Boxing Day still has nothing to do with the sport of boxing, it has now come to be associated with drinking beer and watching football (soccer to us). Doesn't really sound like a bad idea, does it?

ReplyDeleteAnd that cake, it's all about the appearance, and tastes like nothing, bland, flavorless, you taste the shortening used in the frosting and the paste than anything else.
Give me a good old fashioned buttercream frosted (using actual butter) white cake. That actually has flavor.
But, no, people are stupid and go for appearance over function.
TP cake, made with angel food cake, fondant not very edible but it is creative.
