Veterans Day falls on a Saturday this year, meaning that federal employees will observe the federal holiday the previous day - today - Friday, Nov. 10, and many non-essential government services (what a great turn of a phrase that is) will be closed. God forbid they should miss a day off. Banks will be closed but it'll be business as usual at the stock exchanges.

The 52-year-old mystery surrounding the figure featured on Led Zeppelin’s fourth studio album cover has finally been solved. The identity of the man – hunched over with a pile of sticks balancing on his back – on the iconic 1971 Led Zeppelin IV record has long been shrouded in mystery. However, his identity has now been discovered to be that of Lot Long, a Victorian-era Wiltshire thatcher.

ReplyDeleteThe original Falling Water is not owned by an individual, but the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is open to the public for tours.
Wright was a brilliant designer but didn't listen to his engineers. The entire building was close to collapse before the Conservancy that manages the site added the structural reinforcement that should have been there from the beginning.
